Hey, it’s Seely Clark here.Thanks for visiting here on my blog! I’m just doing a quick tutorial to show you how to put your banners into traffic exchanges, mailers, or wherever you like to advertise.

So, if you’re sticking around to read further then let’s have you log into your favorite place to advertise. They’ll have a section with all sorts of fun stuff, including my banners. Click on that and go down to where it says “add banners”.
What you can do is take a little trick here with the mouse. Left-click, highlight, backspace, left-click, highlight, backspace. It gets rid of stuff quicker than just hitting the backspace button. So, I clear this out first because I don’t want to fiddle with it later.
Go into whatever program you’re promoting and go to your affiliate toolbox. It’ll have different names in different programs, but basically, get in there and go to the banners. Now, what you’ll see is all this HTML. All this really doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is what’s between these quotations. This is what you’ll be using. Usually, they’re set up with your affiliate link first and then your image link second.
This image link, once you copy and paste, will look like that. So, we’ll start with the image link. Put the cursor here, left-click your mouse, drag it across to highlight it, stay within those quotation marks, right-click, copy. Hop back over here, right-click, paste. Now you have your image URL copied in there.
Now, you’re going to go for your affiliate URL. Make sure you’re between that quotation mark and what you want to copy. So, you’re going to left-click, drag to highlight, right-click, copy. By the way, on a Windows PC, once you get this highlighted, you can do Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.
So, anyhow, now you have that copied. I’m going to hop back over here, site URL, right-click, paste. And then you can add the name of the program or an abbreviation and you hit add. That’s added. Sometimes it says the admin must check your banner before it’s in rotation. They do that to make sure it’s all kosher and you’re not advertising crazy stuff.
Now, see, it’s down here. It’s not approved yet, but the important thing is your banner looks right. This is a 468 by 60 banner. Click here to see what a 468 x 60 banner looks like. It opens in a new window so you won’t lose your place here on the blog page.
If you happen to add one that was of similar shape but let’s say you’re buzzing down through your affiliate area and happen to grab one that was the same shape but different dimensions, once it shows up in here, it would look funny. It would look squished or look long or narrow. It just wouldn’t look right.
So, anyhow, looks good. You know this is “ADD URL” as your Banner URL. This looks good. Your affiliate link is in here. Everything looks right. But I learned the hard way a long time ago, always check your banners. The cool thing is, in most programs, actually all of them as far as I know, you’ll hover over it and you’ll see this little hand. And what you can do is you can test to make sure that this image goes to your affiliate link.
So, all you’re going to do is go on here, you’re going to left-click, and it’ll pop up a new window. And hey, look, your affiliate ID is (should be) right there. So, that means it is going where it should go. But I always wait to see how it does. My computer takes a minute. Yes, it’s actually headed where it should be. So, that’s how you check your banners. I’m going to X out of this.
Another little tip to make life a little easier on you. Whatever your image is from your affiliate area, you can take your copy that information you need for your picture, open a new window, right-click, paste, and go. As soon as this wakes up, anyhow, it’ll put it here. Now you can go to bookmarks. I’ve already bookmarked it, but you can hit that little star or whatever your bookmark function is, hit done.
You can do this with all your banner images that you use for whatever programs. You can keep them in a nice list on your bookmarks page. You can also do it for your affiliate links. That way, when you start to type it in, you’ll be able to pick your banner. And after a while, that’ll be a lot quicker than rifling down through your affiliate tool section of every different program. You can have them all basically cataloged in your bookmarks bar. That saves a lot of time. You can do that virtually on any device, you know, Mac, iPad, whatever works for you.
Remember, the best thing about advertising with banners is that they NEVER SLEEP! That means those lil jokers are out there hustlin’ for ya 24/7!
